Satyam Implements the Oracle E-Business Suite for Kenya Airways
- Large-scale implementation streamlines numerous functions and enables better customer service
- Organization expanding its footprint in Africa
HYDERABAD, India and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. September 4, 2008: Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE: SAY), a leading global consulting and information technology services provider, and Oracle announced today that the Oracleâ E-Business Suite has been successfully implemented for Kenya Airways. The Oracle Applications have streamlined the airline’s financial, human resources and procurement processes and enhanced its ability to manage people, processes and resources. As a result, Kenya Airways is able to run its overall business more effectively and become more competitive in its market.
“We are proud to have helped Kenya Airways create a single, integrated system that streamlines administration and facilitates information access,” said Satyam’s Sriram Papani, Senior VP - Oracle Practice. “The airline now benefits from consistent data—a ‘single source of the truth’—enabling its management to leverage accurate information and make critical strategic decisions quickly.”
“With Oracle’s open and standards-based applications, Kenya Airways has the foundational applications and technology platform to enable improved business processes across the enterprise,” said Oracle’s David Anderson – VP Global Services, Transportation, and Construction Industries. “In a time when customer management, cost controls, and resource optimization are essential, Kenya Airways is now better positioned to respond to both customers and stakeholders.”
In addition, Kenya Airways employees will be able to handle important tasks like procurement and expense management much more quickly, effectively and accurately. The airline is already benefiting from faster month-end closing and an online and consolidated view of headquarters and other stations. It also has reduced the cycle times of procure-to-pay and invoice processing.
“We view this as a significant step forward in our strategic decision to upgrade all our major systems to deliver improved customer service in the face of increasing competition,” said Kenya Airways Finance Director Neil Canty. “In particular, we recognize the significant commitment shown by Satyam and Oracle in support of our major system changeover with minimum disruption to our day-to-day operations.”
The implementation has helped Satyam expand its footprint in East Africa, a region it views as critical. The organization also recently established a development center in Cairo. It also has several offices in South Africa and is the official IT sponsor of the FIFA World Cup in 2010, which will take place in that country.
“Africa is an important emerging economy, and we look forward to helping Kenya Airways play an important role in its success,” Papani said.
