Satyam’s best-of-breed training programs
and learning interventions for Associates were accorded the prestigious
American Society for Training & Development’s (ASTD) BEST
Awards-recognition. Satyam was ranked 15th in the
ASTD’s Fourth Annual BEST Awards program, and is among the
39 organizations from India, South Africa, and the United States
to receive this high-status award.
“Satyam’s focus on learning
is to enhance and develop global Associates’capabilities,
while expanding the organization’s strategic leadership
strengths,”said Ramalinga Raju, Satyam’s
founder and chairman. “This recognition
from ASTD reinforces the fact that our learning programs
have moved beyond the theory stage, and are bearing fruit.
Through state-of-the-art learning interventions and world-class
training courses, we will continue to boost our organization’s
intellectual capital, and deliver value to our stakeholders.”
Learning initiatives for Associates at
Satyam are essentially driven by two entities: The
Satyam School of Leadership (SSL), and the Satyam
Learning Center (SLC). While the SSL offers courses
to create best-in-class entrepreneurial leaders (as of
now, reserved for 5 per cent of the top leadership team
at Satyam), the SLC is a high-quality learning provider
for all Associates –offering courses in technology,
project management, advanced management, behavioral education,
and culture & foreign languages.
In its online survey, ASTD –which
recognizes organizations demonstrating enterprise-wide
success through employee learning and development –reviewed
applications from 78 organizations in seven countries.
Participants submitted quantitative and qualitative information
about their learning and development practices and programs.
Applications were reviewed by the BEST Awards advisory
committee, a team of learning and performance executives
with significant expertise in learning development, corporate
training, human resources, and corporate strategy. The
ASTD is the world’s largest association dedicated
to workplace learning and performance professionals.
Rajul Asthana, vice president,
at the Satyam Learning Center, accepted the award during
an October 4 reception in Washington, D.C. The next day,
representatives from several recognized organizations offered
presentations about their learning and development practices
during the “Learn from the BEST”professional
development event.
According to Ed Cohen,
senior vice president, Satyam School Leadership: “The
SSL is designed to expand entrepreneurial energy throughout
the organization, and to help Satyam thrive in a volatile
global marketplace. The school works with global institutions
to provide strategic business and leadership learning,
nurturing executives to provide integrated business solutions
to stakeholders, and create a one-Satyam experience.”
