Satyam recognizes that leadership can come from anywhere in the organization, and consequently is organized in a way that enables leaders to emerge and act independently, with speed and agility. With respect to Satyam’s intense focus on fostering leadership from within the organization, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Satyam is in the business of growing leaders.

Fostering Leadership from within, through the Full Life Cycle Leadership Program

Satyam is organized into various logical parts. Each part represents one of the five functions below, called Full Life Cycle Businesses (FLCBs):

• Customer Relationships
• Alliance Relationships
• Service Offerings
• Processes
• Projects

These five categories cover the entire spectrum of the organization. Depending on what it does, every FLCB belongs to one of Satyam’s four Integrated Groups, either Vertical Business Units (VBUs), Horizontal Competency Units (HCUs), Regional Business Units (RBUs) or Strategic Support Units (SSUs).

Each FLCB is lead by a Full Life Cycle Leader (FLCL), who has the distributed authority to think and act like an entrepreneur – the CEO of a business.

This new framework helped in transforming many Satyam associates into leaders, by giving them end-to-end ownership of their responsibilities. This is distributed leadership in a true sense - the responsibilities for the day-to-day leadership of the company are distributed to FLCLs. Today, there are more than 1800 Full Life Cycle Leaders, leading businesses in Satyam.

Effective leadership through Real Time Leadership Center

To enable FLCLs to become high performing leaders who execute their responsibilities effectively and efficiently, Satyam set up the Real Time Leadership Center (RTLC). RTLC is a virtual shared platform that provides FLCLs access to critical business management tools, including visioning, analytics, metrics definition and capturing, and performance tracking – all in real time.
